Our Story

The Sister Bond: Delicate ~ Complex ~ Unbreakable

Sisters. There is no relationship in the world quite like it. You can fight like cats and dogs but the moment someone tries to step between you, there is a fierceness that takes over. That fierceness saved us.

Dawn

Bio

Dawn Hinze completed her Psychology degree at the University of British Columbia. She currently works for the BC Provincial government in emergency management. She is pursuing a certification in therapeutic counselling and will have her designation in 2025. Her degree provided insight into how child trauma survivors are often drawn to first responder roles as there is a familiarity with chaos and trauma, that others turn from. Dawn has vigorously pursued therapy for her own mental health and seeks to transform a difficult childhood into a platform that provides hope.

Angela

Bio

Angela van der Gulik (née Hinze) completed her MBA with a focus on Marketing, while working a challenging career in a support role with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). Throughout her career, she realized she had beaten the odds, having reviewed thousands of police files, to discover so many in similar situations found themselves lost on the streets. More than anything, she hopes that sharing her story will provide a guiding light to anyone who may have gone through a dark time in their lives.
